Why Participate
The CIRCLE Mobile STE(A)M Lab partners with Black and Latinx inner-city communities to increase access to STEAM technologies and learning content to improve their 21st Century skills and competencies and develop in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). Research has shown that Black and Latinx minorities make up a small fraction of high-tech careers. Furthermore, STEAM-related careers are expected to grow significantly over the next 30 years. Providing students and the communities with more opportunities to STEAM education and equipment, may help to expand their interests ad understanding of STEAM fields of study and careers.
Program Objectives
The main objectives for this project are:
(1) provide a measurable increase in STEAM education to lower-income communities
(2) enable lower-income students and communities hands-on experience and access to high-tech equipment prevalent in STEAM-related fields
(3) encourage inner-city youth to develop a deeper understanding and exploration of STEAM-related career pathways.
